About
Making gardening feel possible
Seedling & Sun is a gardening resource for everyday people who want to grow something good — without needing experience, land, or a shed full of equipment.
Why this site exists
Most people who want to start a garden do not stop because gardening is hard. They stop because the advice is overwhelming. Conflicting instructions, unfamiliar terms, and elaborate setups make a simple activity feel like a specialized hobby.
Seedling & Sun takes the opposite approach. Every guide starts from the assumption that you have limited time, ordinary soil or a few pots, and a reasonable question you want answered clearly. We focus on the decisions that genuinely affect whether a plant thrives — light, soil, water, spacing, and timing — and leave the rest until you want it.
The tagline is the whole idea: simple gardening for everyday life. A window box of herbs counts. So does a single tomato plant on a balcony, or a first raised bed in the backyard.

How we write
What you can expect from our guides
Plain language
No jargon for its own sake. If a term is worth using, it gets explained the first time it appears.
Small steps
Guides are written so you can act on one section today without reading everything first.
Honest limits
Gardening varies by climate, soil and season. We describe general principles, not guarantees.
Room to grow
Beginner content stays beginner-friendly, with deeper detail available when you want it.
